Sjors Groeneveld is a senior lecturer Living Technology at Saxion University of Applied Sciences and PhD candidate AI in long term care at the University of Twente. Sjors is involved in various Dutch national initiatives focused on the role of technology in healthcare education, is an educational author and speaks and publishes about the influence of technology on the competences of (future) healthcare professionals.
In his doctoral research Sjors focuses on the collaboration of healthcare professionals with AI-driven lifestyle monitoring in the form of smart homes, which can support older adults in ageing in place.
As senior lecturer at the Saxion School of Nursing Sjors is involved in several educational initiatives focused on preparing our students to become future proof professionals. Examples of such are the serious game Carion and the interdisciplinary Smart Solutions Semester.
Sjors is the initiator behind the VR memory machine 'Relive My Memory' and the 'The Digital Data Divide' initiative, designed to spark conversation on the growing use and reliance on personal health data. He also collaborates on the Toekomstbeelden (Future Images) project, where short films on the future of care were co-created with patients and healthcare professionals. Currently, Sjors is working on Project Menswens (Human Wish), aiming to foster a society-wide discussion on what it means to be human in an increasingly digital world.
