Johannes Konert

Professor

Fulda University of Applied Sciences
Applied Computer Science
Highest degree: Doctorate
Degree name: PhD
Area of expertise: Engineering and technology
Skills: Prof. Konert is currently researching the use of modern web technologies for networking and optimizing individual learning experiences in social media-based learning applications. This research includes semantic modeling and linking competencies and competency frameworks as well as supporting computer science solutions for the acquisition of these competencies. One of these solutions is algorithmic optimization in the formation of learning groups, which improves the learning progress of the individual and (thus) satisfaction with the learning group. To certify competence portfolios digitally, forgery-proof and with semantic data, Mr. Konert has contributed to the formulation of the new Open Badge Standard 2.0, which enables the linking of certificates (Open Badges) with (machine-readable) competence definitions. The fundamental motivation behind his research is the further development of learning, teaching and examination scenarios in university teaching.
Prof. Konert is a co-author of book chapters and publications in the research field of Technology-Enhanced Learning (TEL) and is involved as a committee member in international conferences and journals, in particular IEEE Transactions on Learning Technologies and Springer Education and Information Technologies. Since 2016, he has been a member of the steering committee of the Educational Technologies Section of the German Informatics Society (since 2020 as spokesperson of the steering committee), which organizes the largest German-language conference on learning technologies every year (DELFI conference).
