Skills: A possible influence of body weight and eating pathologies on the processing of food-related stimuli can be investigated using psychophysiological methods such as electroencephalography (EEG). Research indicates that individuals with eating pathologies - such as loss of control eating - often exhibit altered neural responses to food cues, including visual or gustatory stimuli. These responses may reflect abnormalities in cognitive and emotional processing, such as heightened attention to food-related cues, altered reward sensitivity, and dysfunctional evaluative processes.

Recent studies also suggest a potential association between social media activity and the development or maintenance of body image disturbances and disordered eating behaviors. Frequent exposure to idealized body images on platforms like Instagram or TikTok can promote social comparison, body dissatisfaction, and the internalization of unrealistic beauty standards - factors that are known to increase vulnerability to eating pathologies.
