Skills: Brian Horsak is an Endowed Professor of Applied Biomechanics in Rehabilitation Research and leads the Motor Rehabilitation Research Group at the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences. Additionally, he serves as the Scientific Director of the Center for Digital Health and Social Innovation. He earned his Dr. rer. nat. (2012) and habilitation (2020) in Sport Science from the University of Vienna. His research focuses on integrating technology and healthcare to advance clinical gait analysis and rehabilitation. By utilizing motion capture, wearables, musculoskeletal simulations, machine learning, and virtual reality, he aims to enhance clinical practice and medical decision-making, particularly for patients with orthopedic (e.g., osteoarthritis) and neuro-orthopedic (e.g., cerebral palsy) conditions. As Principal Investigator, he has secured over €4.8 million in competitive research funding and has received several national research awards and international best paper awards. He also co-led the development of the first clinical instrumented gait analysis recommendations for German-speaking countries in Europe.
