Katriina Hyvönen (PhD, Adj. Prof.) works as a Senior Researcher at the Institute of Rehabilitation, Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences. She is also a Licensed Psychologist, Psychotherapist, Dance Movement Therapist, and a trainer and supervisor in Integrative Psychotherapy. Her main research interests are naturebased and arts therapy interventions in the prevention and treatment of mental health difficulties. Recently her research work has focused on promoting environmental responsibility and planetary well-being.
Hyvönen has worked as the principal investigator in projects funded by the Finnish Work Environment Fund (Nature Environment as a Resource for Work Well-being and Performance; Recovery from Remote and Hybrid Work through Nature Experiences) and in a consortium project funded by the Research Council of Finland (Act with Nature: Promoting Well-being and Pro-environmental Behaviour among Working-age Adults during the Era of Environmental Crises). Hyvönen has also worked as the principal investigator or project coordinator in research projects funded by the the Social Insurance Institution of Finland, in which she have studied the effectiveness of group therapies in the treatment of depression (Nature-based Intervention for Depression; Group Dance Movement Therapy as Rehabilitation for Depression).
