Skills: PhD Mari Partanen is a cultural anthropologist and a human geographer specialized in multi-scalar changes, places, and sustainability questions. Dr Partanen’s research is rooted in socio-cultural studies, especially in environmental and business anthropology and critical tourism geography. Her research has focused on social innovations, inclusive development in tourism, stakeholders, and community resilience-building, extending to human-environment relationships and lately to virtual tourism and regenerative leadership. Her work brings out the nuances of locality and inclusive development, often by gathering in-depth, design-oriented ethnographic knowledge about the field. She works as a researcher in Jamk University of Applied Sciences and is a member of the Eudres Research Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Business Models and a board member of The Finnish Society for Tourism Research.
