Special expertise and research interests focus on motor learning and assessment, adapted physical education, social inclusion, and developmental disabilities. Dr. Asunta is involved in numerous multidisciplinary national and international research and developmental projects. She served as the European Regional Representative of the International Federation of Adapted Physical Activity (IFAPA) from 2022 to 2024 and is currently the Vice-President of the Finnish Adapted Physical Activity Committee (FINAPA). She coordinated the Finnish Para Report Card 2022 and has been nominated to the newly established Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) Committee of the Active Healthy Kids Global Alliance.
