Skills: Célio Gabriel Figueiredo Pina has a degree in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering and a Master's degree in Surface Science and Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering (doctoral thesis in the field of biotribology) from the University of Leeds (UK). He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal (IPS) and a researcher at the Centre for Physics and Engineering of Advanced Materials (CeFEMA). He is currently the coordinator of the master's programme in Biomedical Engineering (IPS). His main research interests lie in the development and characterisation of materials obtained by additive manufacturing (metals, ceramics and polymers) and materials used in tribological applications. With regard to the biomedical area, his research has been dedicated to dental materials, materials for replacing articular cartilage and recently scaffolds for bone regeneration. Regard to eco-materials, his research is concerned to composites production with natural fibers.
