Research themes: journalism and media studies (media ethics and economics); civic participation on social media; media literacy and disinformation. Interested in media diets of individuals and how they navigate contemporary information environment.
Ongoing research project: Baltic Engagement Center for Combating Information Disorders (BECID): scientific leader of my university's team. The center is one of the hubs within the European Digital Media Observatory (EDMO). It currently does research on fact-checking journalism and engages in media literacy promotion. Previously studied online communication of transnational migrants and the relationships between media literacy and civic participation.
Methods and skills: qualitative data analysis, incl. thematic coding. Have some experience with quantitative data, too (descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, factor analysis). Quantitative and qualitative content analysis.
